NGO Island is Sziget’s most colorful and interesting spot. Its roots go way back to the very first Sziget Festival, when only a couple, later on a dozen social organizations found it important to be represented with their programs, services, and direct contact with the youth. From a single street, it gradually grew into the separate “island” that it is today. NGO Island is a meeting place for those who wish to be informed, where visitors can enjoy services and receive help, or if they would like to, even take part in an organization’s work. It has become a growingly important location within the civil sphere as well; it is an occasion for similar organizations to meet one another, exchange thoughts, and due to representatives from abroad, gain foreign experiences.
The Sziget Cultural Management Office is announcing a tender for each year’s festival and the tender is open to all non-governmental organizations active in any of the EU member countries to submit proposals.
