First time at Sziget?
We all have been there. As Sziget is a massive festival, there are many things to share with you before you start your journey. We have listed all the important info for an unforgettable adventure.

The Island Of Freedom
Sziget takes place from 6 to 11 August on the Óbuda Island in Budapest in the Heart of Europe. Every year, thousands of Szitizens from all over the world travel to the Hungarian capital and seek out The Island Of Freedom in the Danube.
For six days, you will see a varied program of great music performances on the island, as well as theatre, circus, workshops, dancing, art, food & drinks and much more.

HOW TO GET THERE?
There are several ways to travel to Sziget, with train and bus being some of the greenest options. The journey to Budapest is already an adventure in itself, and you might even make some new festival friends along the way. Another convenient option is traveling by plane. Budapest has a well-connected international airport, with many flights arriving daily from all over the world. Once you arrive, you can easily make your way to Sziget by taxi, public transport, or shuttle bus. And for those who prefer to drive, you can park your car safely in one of the guarded parking lots near the festival grounds.

WHERE TO STAY?
Get ready for a festival adventure like no other! Not only do you get to enjoy top-notch music acts, but you also get to camp for free at Sziget Festival! With a Full Festival Pass, 3-Day Pass, or 2 consecutive day tickets, you can take advantage of the ‘Basic Camping’. Set up camp anywhere you like – except at program venues ofc. If you’re looking for more comfort, there are 4 campsites available (even for families or for disabled Szitizens). Rather prefer the city? There are plenty of options in Budapest that will suit your needs. The choice is yours!

CAMPING AT SZIGET IS THE ULTIMATE FESTIVAL EXPERIENCE
Imagine waking up right in the middle of the action and being able to stumble back to your cozy bed after a long day of dancing! And guess what? You can camp for free anywhere you want! Just make sure to find a good spot with some shade or near a tree to catch some extra sleep in the morning. For those who crave a little more luxury, there are various camping upgrades available with added extras and services. Want a pre-set tent or a fancier accommodation? No problem, we’ve got you covered. Plus, there’s an Aldi on the site and a large supermarket called Auchan, just a stone’s throw away from the festival grounds. So no need to leave the island if you don’t want to!

EXPLORING THE CITY
You can also stay in the centre of Budapest. The connection is easy and on average, you can reach the festival site within 30 minutes. Check out this page to see our Partner Hotels selection – offering you up to € 318 discount. Btw the easiest way to reach Sziget is by the HÉV (railway) no. H5, which departs every 15-20 minutes from Batthyány tér or Margit híd. The stop to get off (and on) at Sziget is called Filatorigát.

6 DAYS - AN EXPERIENCE FOR A LIFETIME
For six days, you can enjoy all the beauty that Sziget has to offer. From the biggest artists like Post Malone, Shawn Mendes, Chappell Roan, Charli XCX, A$AP Rocky, and Anyma, to discovering new music. There are all kinds of workshops, yoga, dancing, talks, games and way more! You can also see art: take a look at the installations with special art, interactive statues. Are you a fan of electronic music? We have something new this year: Delta District – where electronic culture comes alive!

USEFUL SERVICES & EXTRAS
To make your stay on the island as optimal as possible, you can use extra services. Like a locker to place your phone to charge or your belongings while partying. Are you coming to Sziget by car? Well, we don’t suggest doing so, as parking spots are limited around the island. Rather choose a bike, a scooter or the very affordable Public Transport (at BKV), a Transfer Boat (coming from Jászai Mari square straight to the Island and back). You can make your experience even more special with one of our Sziget Cruisin’ Boat Parties, or Castle Parties (available soon).

PAYMENT IN HUNGARY AND AT SZIGET
In Hungary, you pay with the Hungarian Forint. In 2024, for half a liter of beer (Dreher!), you paid around 1800 HUF at Sziget, which is approximately €4,50 Euros. Sziget is cashless. At the Festival you can only pay for drinks, food and any other product by our cash-free system. You can also use your contactless card and any payment-enabled device (phone, smartwatch) or top up your wristband balance via the website (in your Festival Account) or at designated Festipay points (with cash or credit card).

WHAT TO EAT AT SZIGET?
Enjoy the adventure at Sziget with a variety of food trucks serving dishes from all over the world (incl. Thai, Japanese, Greek, Brazilian, Serbian, American etc.). With Hungarian delicacies, international treats, and vegetarian, soi-free, gluten-free, lactose-free, vegan-friendly options, you’ll never run out of options to satisfy your cravings. Plus, there’s an Aldi on the island to stock up on your own groceries – perfect for a picnic in between performances!

VISIT THE CAPITAL CITY
You don’t necessarily have to leave the festival site – there’s all kinds of things to do day and night. But of course, it’s fun to spend a day in our beautiful hometown: Budapest. And exploring the city is even easier with a Sziget Citypass (coming soon), with which you can use public transport for free and have one free entrance to a bathhouse!
