Ultimate
Sziget Guide

All the essential info you need for a comfy stay.

We’re thrilled to welcome you at Sziget very soon! Here we put together a handy guide containing all the information you need to fully enjoy your festival experience. Read carefully. During your stay, please respect locals and also the environment. Keep the island and the city clean.

When leaving home
PREPARE FOR THE CHECK-IN

Check if you have an ID (containing your photo), your ticket (voucher) in your pocket: in your Festival Account or the original pdf format you received from us, or a good quality printed version. The easiest and fastest way to enter the festival is to have a boarding pass in your Mobile Wallet. You don’t need to prepare all your vouchers and barcodes for all pre-purchased services, you will have only one code in your wallet – create it though the Festival Account.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW: If you’re coming with your own tent, prepare your Leave-no-tent-behind voucher too, as it’s mandatory to bring in your tent.

WEATHER

Check the weather forecast! It can be really hot in August, so pack sunglasses, hats, bikinis, shorts, sunscreen with high protection. Sometimes it can be windy and a bit colder at night, so a warm sweater could be useful. It might rain, so bring a raincoat and waterproof shoes. If you leave anything at home, no worries, we’ve got you covered, you can get them at the Official Merch Shops or at our partners on-site.

PAYMENT

We’re a cashless festival, so please bring a contactless card with you or check how easy it is to top-up your balance to your wristband, or pre-top-up before the festival to your ticket in your festival account. All necessary info is listed here. How to get back your remaining balance?

  • if you top-up on-site please head to one of the Festipay Points until 15 August 12:00 and claim it back – unless it will be lost.
  • If you topped up online in your Festival Account, we’ll automatically refund you the remaining balance in 30 days.

Download the Sziget app, your official festival buddy and create your own schedule! Allow notifications to get all the news and info right into your hands. It will help you to navigate through venues on-site, too.

Check the map to get familiar with the Festival area! If you have a camping ticket, check the Camping map. Oh, and if you don’t know where to stay, we still have got some accommodations available, check them here.

Online check-in

Before you arrive at Sziget Festival please don’t forget to do the online check-in at home.

What you’ll need for the Online Check-in

Follow the guide and get one step closer to the time of your life! By completing the online check-in, you can also help make entry to the festival faster and smoother.

Before you start, please prepare the following:

Your entry ticket / camping ticket

  • Make sure you check in the ticket that you will personally use to enter or camp at the festival.
  • 1 Festival Account = 1 person = 1 ID check-in
  • Your friend must check in their own ticket using their own Festival Account, meaning that everyone needs to complete the check-in process individually.
  • Visitors under the age of 16 cannot create a Festival Account. Check-in for visitors under 16 will be completed by our staff on site.

Mobile phone or a MacBook with a suitable camera

  • Open the page on the device you want to use throughout the entire process. A good-quality camera is required to scan your ID document.

ID card

  • You will need to scan both sides of your valid ID card using your device’s camera. (If your ID is invalid, the process will fail with an error message.)
  • Please bring the same ID document with you to the festival, as we will check it when your ticket is redeemed.

Or passport

  • In this case, you only need to scan the photo page of your passport.
  • Please bring your passport with you to the festival, as we will check it when your ticket is redeemed.
Got everything ready?
  • Do you have your ticket and photo ID in front of you?
  • Then let’s get started! The whole process takes approximately 3 minutes.
  • Don’t worry — you’ve got this!
START YOUR ONLINE CHECK-IN

1. Scan your ID document

After logging into your Festival Account, open the check-in menu and scan your photo ID document containing an MRZ code.

2. Add your ticket to your Festival Account

Next, add the entry ticket, camping ticket or pre-pitched accommodation ticket that you will use at the festival to your Festival Account.

3. Add your check-in details

Open the ticket you have added and assign your previously saved check-in details to it.

For camping tickets, providing additional information online is mandatory to complete your check-in.

If you have purchased pre-installed accommodation (e.g., pre-installed tent, wooden cabin, hut, etc.), online check-in is not available for these options; you can check in at the campsite reception instead.

And that’s it – the three minutes are already up!

We can’t wait to welcome you to Sziget!

Important – and please tell your friends too! No check-in, no entry.

Public transport from the Airport

  • Direct Journey to the city center by public transport with the 100E Airport Express bus towards Deák Ferenc Square, change to Metro 2 (M2) to Batthyány tér. Hop on HÉV (H5) to Filatorigát. Travel time: cca. 65 mins.
  • You can also travel with bus line 200E: it operates 24 hrs a day. Change to Metro 3 (M3) at Kőbánya Kispest, then at Göncz Árpád Városközpont to Tram 1. Hop on HÉV (H5) to Filatorigát. Get a CityPass by Budapest Card and travel for free within city borders (not applicable for 100E). Travel time: cca. 90 mins.

Arriving by car?

Parking places on the island are available in a very limited amount (tickets to the VIP Parking at Parking Terminal here and at Auchan hypermarket and MÖMAX parking lot available here). Local parking spots (outside the island) are also limited and chargeable everywhere in Budapest. Therefore, we suggest choosing an alternative way to arrive.

Arriving by wigo carsharing?

Skip the hassle and ride like a local with wigo carsharing! Grab a car at Liszt Ferenc International Airport and head straight to wigo’s dedicated parking lot at H Bridge, just a short walk from the main festival entrance. Perfect for heavy bags, extra tens and your whole festival crew. Explore Budapest beyond the festival too: hop in and discover the city on your own terms!

All it takes is one app and quick registration for free with SZIGWT26 promo code!

Rather taking a cab?

Bolt Taxi is the official taxi partner of Sziget and offers fixed Budapest fares. Official taxi ranks are available at the K Bridge entrance and H Bridge. If you request your taxi to drop you off at the H Bridge, you can collect your wristband at the ticket drive located there. After check-in, your taxi can take you directly to the festival entrance inside the H Bridge area.

Download the Bolt app (AppStore or GooglePlay) and you can read more information here. For a safe and reliable journey, always choose an official taxi service, as unofficial taxis may charge significantly higher fares.

How about trains or International buses?

From Keleti Railway Station
Take Metro 2 in the direction of Déli Pályaudvar, then change at Batthyány tér to HÉV (H5) to Filatorigát, where our team will be waiting for you and guide you to the Festival entrance.

From Nyugati Railway Station
Take tram 4 or 6 in the direction of Széll Kálmán tér, then change at Margit Híd Budai Hídfő to HÉV (H5) to Filatorigát, where our team will be waiting for you and guide you to the Festival entrance.

From Déli Railway Station
Take Metro 2 in the direction of Őrs Vezér Tere, then change at Batthyány tér to HÉV (H5) to Filatorigát, where our team will be waiting for you and guide you to the Festival entrance.

Flixbus
If you’re arriving by coach at Népliget International Bus Station, including FlixBus services, take Tram 1 towards Bécsi út, then change to HÉV H5 at Árpád híd and get off at Filatorigát. The journey takes around one hour.

What about bikes?

If you can, ride a bike to the Festival, or bring it with you on the train/car, maybe rent one and be free as a bird in Budapest – this is the easiest and, by the way, the greenest way to get to us. Secure bike storage is available at the K-Bridge, but please note that it is not supervised. You can also leave your scooter here. Please note that electric bikes cannot be charged on site.

If you don’t have your own bike or scooter, you can also use Lime scooters, available at numerous locations throughout Budapest. Simply download the Lime app (App Store or Google Play), ride to the K-Bridge and park your scooter in the designated area before entering the festival.

A MOL Bubi station is also located near the K-Bridge, just 50 metres from the bike storage, so make sure to download the MOL Bubi app in advance if you’d like to use the city’s bike-sharing service.

Please note: Bicycles and scooters are not permitted inside the festival area. If you’ve been drinking alcohol, please don’t use a bicycle or a scooter. Choose a safe way to get home.

If you are transporting the bicycle by HÉV, buy a single ticket for it and be sure to get off at Filatorigat, because this year the H-híd is closed to pedestrian and bicycle traffic. If you are drunk, please do not cycle!

Arriving by caravan/campervan?

Citizens arriving with caravan tickets can exchange their wristbands at the H-bridge. Caravans, cars with rooftop tents and campervans are permitted to enter and stay in Caravan Camping. Station wagons with folded down back-seats or microbuses with laid-down mattresses are not accepted.

The caravan camping ticket entitles you to a single entry. The caravan can be parked in the campsite area with a pre-purchased camping ticket, the visitor must park the vehicle towing it in the same plot as the caravan after dropping it off. It is forbidden to enter the Caravan Camping area with any other vehicle.

Click here for the entrance location. Our staff on site will be happy to assist you with any further questions.

The check-in process will ensure the personalization of your wristbands. Avoid peak hours

appx. 5pm – 9 pm at the Main Entrance, there are plenty of things to discover on the Island anyway, so it’s always better to arrive as soon as you can!

If you purchase Citypass by BudapestCard, you can always wonder around Budapest and get the most out of it.

Check the validity of your ticket

It’s on your voucher/e-ticket. You only can enter and must leave within the validity period. You can go out anytime you want and come back in during this period, but please, always wear your wristband, don’t remove it.

Allow plenty of time

To get in before your favourite artist starts: min. 1.5-2 hours earlier. You will need to show your ticket AND your ID along with having your bag and your clothes checked by security. If you haven’t got a valid wristband, you cannot enter the festival.

All the daily tickets, passes, campsite tickets (vouchers) will be exchanged for wristbands at the Main Entrance of the festival, at K Bridge. Exceptions to this rule are H Terminal Parking tickets, Caravan and Campervan tickets (along with Caravan ticket holders festival entry tickets) and those Szitizens’ tickets who arrive with a shuttle bus or transfer bus – their tickets will be exchanged at H Bridge.

Coming with a kid/kids?

The smallest Szitizens are welcome to Sziget as well! Children under the age of 11 (date of birth after 15th August 2015) can enter the Island of Freedom free of charge, but they need to wear a child wristband. The adult accompany of the children must write their phone contact and the name of the child(ren)’s name on the wristband. You can apply for these child wristbands at the entrance. Please bring an ID document for the child as well.

Kids under the age of 14 can enter and stay at the venue only with an adult. Child wristbands are obligatory for them as well.

Have a VIP voucher/ticket?

Head to the VIP Entrance at the Main Entrance (K Bridge). For VIP Upgrade Ticket Holders: remember, you’re required to show both your Standard entry ticket AND your VIP Upgrade ticket to get access to the festival.

When heading to a concert
Festival area

The Festival territory is huge; please give yourself time to head over to the given stage (it might happen that the distance is about 40 mins between 2 venues). Download the mobile app and get notified before the program starts so if there’s a slight change in the program (with allowing notifications). Use the interactive map (available from 10 August) of Sziget in our gorgeous app. Get familiar with the island – a static map is available here.

Drink or not to?

We know you want to have a drink or two, but please, do consider that excessive drinking can leave you vulnerable; friends, please DO look out for each other! All necessary payment info is listed here.

ATMs are available in the festival area, but again: remember that the festival is cashless!

REUSABLE CUPS

In order to minimize waste, a system of reusable cup is implemented at Sziget. The goal of the reusable cup system is to reduce waste. Rather than using disposable cups, Szitizens purchase one reusable cup and use it throughout their time at Sziget. Within the frames of this, you purchase a 0,33 l or 0,5 l reusable cup for HUF 800 (for each) and reusable shot-glass for HUF 400, which may be exchanged for a clean new cup multiple times.

What can you do with your cup?

If you don’t need it temporary, you can exchange it for a token (0,33 and 0,5 cup for 1 token each, 2 shot cup for 1 token (only unharmed and empty cups) at the bars and if you need a drink, you can exchange the token for a new cup.

If you don’t need it anymore, you can exchange it for HUF 400 at Green Sziget Points (only unharmed and empty 0,33 l or 0,5 l cups, max 5 at the same time). This amount will be credited either to your credit card or your wristband at these locations during opening hours.

  • Green Sziget Deposit Point (Catedral): 00:00-24:00
  • Green Sziget Deposit Point (Ambulance): 00:00-24:00
  • Green Sziget Deposit Point (Ferry wheel): 00-24:00
  • Green Sziget Deposit Point (H-Bridge entrance)

Redemption of reusable cups may be paused in the morning sometimes for 20-30 minute technical breaks, but then the nearest other Deposit Point will operate.

DRINK WATER

In the heat of the party, it’s especially important to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. To have a great time all night long, make sure you visit the Water Points by DRINKiQ on the festival area and refill your tumblers or bottles frequently!

When you’re tired
Wanna leave the festival to recharge?

See the local transport options on our travel page.

Walking home?

It’s the greenest, simplest, and most liberating way. Please note that your journey will take you through a residential area where locals and your festival buddies are sleeping – don’t wake them up by making any kind of noise!

By Lime scooter

All you have to do is unlock the chosen scooter at the Main Entrance and goooo. Please use them sober and park them as you’d park your own one.

Community transport

H5 – HÉV (Suburban rail)

During Sziget Festival, from 8 to 16 August, MÁV (train) HÉV (suburban railway) and buses run more frequently during the day and night to help you get anywhere in the city (special thanks to Budapest <3).

To plan your journey, we recommend using the BudapestGO application – the official Budapest Public Transport app, where you can easily plan your journey, buy tickets and validate them. Pro tip: pay attention to validate your ticket always with the app, using the barcode next to the door outside the vehicle!

PRO TIP: HÉV (H5) is the best option to reach Sziget. Use public transport within city borders for free with Citypass by Budapest Card.

IMPORTANT: To reach Sziget Festival, please get off the train at Filatorigát station, as H-bridge is closed for pedestrians and cyclists.

Night buses

During the festival, night buses 901, 918 and 934 will run more often too. For more information, visit the BKK website or download the BudapestGO app.

Sziget Boat Transfer

Due to extremely low Danube water levels, the boat can neither depart nor dock at the island for safety reasons. We unfortunately can’t offer the boat transfer option, meaning you cannot enter the festival this way this year.

Other travel options in Budapest:

wigo carsharing

Drive by wigo carsharing back to your apartment with our official carsharing partner from the dedicated wigo parking lot at the H-Bridge. When you’re drunk, don’t drink and drive.

Need a ride home?

Bolt Taxi is the official taxi partner of Sziget and offers fixed Budapest fares. Official taxi ranks are available at the H-Bridge entrance. Download the Bolt app (AppStore or GooglePlay) and you can read more information here. For a safe and reliable journey, always choose an official taxi service, as unofficial taxis may charge significantly higher fares.

Important info: Ensure to get into a cab of our official Taxi partner, if someone else gives you a lift way back, it can be really overpriced.

On the Island of Freedom, everyone can party safely — that’s what our Szitizen Care program is all about! At Sziget our Helper First Aid Team, the National Ambulance Service and The Sziget Medical Center are taking care of your health and medical issues.

ARE YOU IN ANY KIND OF DANGER?
Ask help immediately from the nearest security guard or health team. Security staff, police and medical staff are present for crime prevention and safety purposes – both on and off site. NEED MEDICAL ATTENTION?
turn to our medical staff at the Sziget Medical Center. The medical staff will contact the hospital if needed. If you cannot make it to the Sziget Medical Center, look for the nearest Szitizen Care Point, the Helper First Aid patrol, or ask a security guard, volunteer or staff member. They will call for help. If you or someone is badly injured, call 112 and contact us immediately. If you feel like you can’t handle your mental burden, visit our Crisis Point.
The Sziget Medical Center also offers you free storage for your prescribed medicine, and a Hygiene Room for your special medical needs.
