The Island Of Freedom
Sziget takes place from 7 to 12 August on the Óbuda Island in Budapest in Hungary. Every year, thousands of Szitizens from all over the world travel to the Hungarian capital and seek out The Island Of Freedom in the Danube.
For six days, you will see a varied programme of great music performances on the island, as well as new music, theatre, circus, workshops, dancing, art, food & drinks and much more.
Entrance
First of all, it’s important to get access to the site. This can be done with a Full Festival Pass, 3-Day Pass, or a day ticket. Don’t wait too long to buy your tickets because the prices will increase.
Travel to Budapest
There are several ways to travel to Sziget, with train and bus being some of the cleanest options. The journey to Budapest is already an adventure in itself, and you might even make some new festival friends along the way. Another convenient option is traveling by plane. Budapest has a well-connected international airport, with many flights arriving daily from all over the world. Once you arrive, you can easily make your way to Sziget by taxi, public transport, or shuttle bus. And for those who prefer to drive, you can park your car safely in one of the guarded parking lots near the festival grounds.
Accommodation
Get ready for a festival adventure like no other! Not only do you get to enjoy top-notch music acts, but you also get to camp for free at Sziget Festival! With a Full Festival Pass, 3-Day Pass, or 2 consecutive day tickets, you can take advantage of the ‘Basic Camping’ option. If you’re looking for a bit more comfort, there are various camping upgrades available. But, if you prefer city life, there are plenty of accommodation options in Budapest that will suit your needs. The choice is yours!
Camping on the island
Camping at Sziget is the ultimate festival experience – imagine waking up right in the middle of the action and being able to stumble back to your cozy bed after a long day of dancing! And guess what? You can camp (almost) for free anywhere you want! Just make sure to find a good spot with some shade or near a tree to catch some extra sleep in the morning. For those who crave a little more luxury, there are various camping upgrades available with added extras and services. Want a pre-set tent or accommodation? No problem, Sziget has got you covered. Plus, there’s an Aldi on the site and a large supermarket called Auchan, just a stone’s throw away from the festival grounds.
Stay in the city
You can also stay in the centre of Budapest. The connection is easy and on average, you can reach the festival site within 30 minutes. On this page, you will find a selection of hotels, hostels, and apartments in Budapest. The easiest way to reach Sziget is by the HÉV (railway) no. H5, which departs every 15-20 minutes from Batthyány tér or Margit híd. The stop to get off (and on) at Sziget is called Filatorigát.
The festival
For six days, you can enjoy all the beauty that Sziget has to offer. From the biggest artists like Billie Eilish, David Guetta, and Imagine Dragons, to discovering new music. Useful at Sziget
To make your stay on the island as optimal as possible, you can use extra services for a fee. Think, for example, of a locker, also available with an electrical outlet. Hungarian HUF
In Hungary, you pay with the Hungarian Forint. For half a litre of beer (Dreher!), you pay around 1800 HUF at Sziget, which is approximately 4,5 Euros.
