About Superar

Superar helps children and young people to surpass themselves and overcome their boundaries through the power of making music together. Playing music every day is one of the most effective ways of unlocking children’s potential to become successful adults, responsible and independent European citizens in all walks of life. The organization works to bring this positive impact to all children, regardless of their background. Superar develops dialogue between different social groups through community music education with the aim of ensuring equal opportunities for all children and young people.

We believe and experience that community music education has many positive effects. The starting point for our model is the theory that by exploring their own musical skills, learners develop both concentration and creativity, and become more confident and motivated in all aspects of life. Furthermore, we find that collaborative creative work strengthens the sense of belonging to a community, improves communication skills, empathy, tolerance and openness to criticism. Developing these skills is the foundation of our model and the root of many socio-political and educational issues.

In Hungary, more than 380 children, internationally more than 4,500 children participate in the program from 27 different nationalities. Besides Hungary, Superar organizations work in Austria, Switzerland, Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, and Germany.

Goals

Superar aims to enable more children to participate in various community music education programmes free of charge. The project offers children and families a possibility to connect to public and cultural life of their city, establish connections to artists and their surroundings and thus being introduced to people and ideas that would otherwise not be accessible to them. The most important goal of Superar is to broaden children’s perspectives and help them discover their potentials, especially for their educational career. Through different co-operations we are constantly working on better education opportunities for children. We organise visits to different departments of our cooperation partners (concert halls, theatres) to introduce young people options for their vocational education.
