We believe in providing freedom through experience and encouraging the joy of discovery and adventure. Sziget is more than a music festival, it’s an escape from everyday life. MUSIC IS OUR PASSION
The first Sziget Festival was organized back in 1993 as a small gathering and has since evolved into one of Europe’s largest music festivals. Each year we strive to bring Szitizens some of the biggest names out there, and host over 1,000 shows across 50 stages, for 6 days straight.
SZITIZENS COME FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD
There are over 100 nationalities represented at Sziget, with people coming from as far away as Brazil or New Zealand. This peaceful gathering of different cultures for the common cause of music, celebration and entertainment is what the Island of Freedom is all about.
POWER OF LOVE
We’re all different: we come from different parts of the world, speak different languages, believe in different faiths, have different skin colours, have different interests & taste and we prioritize differently. However, when we all gather together, we can realize that the power of our diversity unites us and together we can change the world.
FREE TO BE
Sziget is the place where we are free to be ourselves and become who we want to be, where we are free to find each other in similarity and complement each other in difference, where we are free to be part of different cultures and free to show our own. Where nothing is compulsory, but every experience is different and unmissable.
ART AND INSPIRATION
While music is an important part of Sziget, art is also a core element. There are multiple venues including a circus, theater, museum quarter and much more. Artists and performers come from all over the world to display their talents. There are also opportunities for Szitizens and artists to work together in order to create memorable and meaningful artwork.
RESPECT HUMAN RIGHTS
The community of Sziget was founded 30 years ago based on the idea of creating a temporary “dream nation”, celebrating and sharing the best from cultures and people across the globe. We believe that everyone’s individual freedoms should be respected and everyone should have the right to the freedom of thought and lifestyle, sexual orientation, religion, speech and right to equal knowledge and learning. We stand out for these values every day, and have speaches and workshops around this topic during Sziget.
THINK FOR TOMORROW
Life is tough for young people. Society is becoming more complex, and this is giving rise to issues and challenges that the previous generations did not have to face. With these problems in mind, we created the Think for Tomorrow site, which explores the pressing societal issues from the perspective of young people. Each day will tackle a different issue, including identity politics, mental health, and the future of education.

While once you enter Sziget you may never want to leave, we recommend checking out Budapest as well! There are a ton of things to do from sight-seeing and checking out some of the most amazing bathhouses, to eating out at great restaurants, bar hopping between ruin pubs, and dancing through the night at bars and clubs… the possibilities are endless.
GREEN SZIGET
At Sziget, we deeply care about environmental sustainability and development. We try and convey this message to Szitizens in an effort to create a more aware and conscious community. Every year we work on becoming greener and take measures towards achieving such goals.

Sziget cares deeply about its volunteers, providing an enriching and fulfilling experience that allows you to give back to the community while having a great time. OUR CAUSE: SUPERAR
Sziget partnered with Superar this year, to support the program’s initiative on spreading music to children coming from underprivileged backgrounds. Music is a powerful tool that can help children improve their focus, motivation, creativity and confidence, while allowing them to overcome socio-economic boundaries. Every reusable cup dropped off at a collection point at Sziget, went towards supporting the Superar program.
