The Golden Rule: Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

Summers in Budapest are hot and dry, so hydration is essential. Here’s our golden rule: for every glass of alcohol, make sure to drink plenty of water. Hydration is a simple yet powerful way to keep your body in peak condition while you enjoy the vibes at Sziget. Try to aim for at least 2.5 litres of water a day or even more if you are active.
Seek out the DRINKiQ water stations across the festival grounds, marked in the festival map in the Sziget app. These water points are your go-to places for refreshing water to keep you energized. So, as you raise your glass to celebrate with your best friends, don’t forget to sip some water as well. Your body will thank you, and you’ll be able to keep the party going strong from sunset to sunrise.

Fuel Up Before You Party

Before you start enjoying alcoholic drinks, make sure to fuel up with a hearty meal that's rich in carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats. This will help slow down the absorption of alcohol, keeping your energy levels steady throughout the day.
While you're dancing and having fun, snack occasionally to replenish the salts and minerals your body loses while drinking. Avoid overloading on sugar, as it can cause blood sugar swings and amplify the effects of alcohol, making you feel worse.

Pace Yourself: Dance to Your Own Beat

When it comes to enjoying the festival, it's all about finding your own rhythm. Know your limits and pay attention to what your body is telling you. Keep track of your alcoholic drinks and stop if you start feeling off. Signs like dizziness, headache or nausea mean it's time for a break – find a quiet spot to rest, like the DRINKiQ Oasis or the lovely Danube bank to reset.
Don’t feel pressured to match your friends drink for drink. Alcohol impacts all of us differently, tolerance levels vary. It's perfectly fine to say no when you've had enough. Real friend will respect your decision.
Our goal is for everyone to have an amazing time at Sziget, and that means looking out for your own well-being.

Protect Your Skin and Hydrate

Dancing all day under the blazing summer sun can be tough on your skin, especially with the dehydrating effects of alcohol. Make sure to drink water regularly to keep your skin hydrated and happy. You can find DRINKiQ water points around the festival grounds to help you stay refreshed.
However, your skin needs more than just water. Apply sunscreen frequently to shield yourself from harmful UV rays. Sunscreens prevent sunburn and help protect against long-term skin damage. Make it a habit to reapply every two hours, and your skin will stay healthy and glowing throughout the festival.

Plan and look after each other

Before you immerse yourself in all the magical experiences Sziget has to offer, have a plan to stay connected with your crew and how to get home safe. The most important thing is never drink and drive. Instead, use public transportation, have a designated driver, or use one of our taxi partners.
Ensure you and your friends have a way to contact each other in case you get separated and agree on a meeting point. Keep your phones charged so you can capture all the unforgettable moments and stay connected. Always stick together and do not leave anybody behind.

Last night was a bit too wild? Rest is the name of the game

If you went a bit overboard last night, it's important to take it easy and give your body time to recover. Forget about the "hair of the dog" – drinking more alcohol to cure a hangover only delays the problem and can make things worse. In troubled times like this, water is your best friend so drink plenty. Alternatively, you can go for a drink rich in electrolytes or a smoothie to replenish the lost minerals. It may be tempting to start the day with a cup of coffee, caffeine can further dehydrate your body and increase hangover symptoms, so it's best to avoid it.
Next step is nourishment. Opt for light, nutritious meals. Once you start feeling better, a gentle walk or some exercise can help boost circulation and speed up detoxification.
The key message is: take care of yourself. Be kind, rest up, and hydrate.
